Programs at PS 2

We believe that education is not limited to books, paper and pencils.  We are committed to forging partnerships so that our students are provided with a myriad of learning experiences in which they can grow and develop different skills and talents. 

Technology 
PS 2 is committed to developing students' proficiency in technology learning and application.  Every student has an ipad for learning and creating projects.  Our computer lab is used for teaching all grades computer use and coding applications.  We will continue to develop our e-sports team to participate in projects and competition.

Music and the Brain
Our lower grade students - kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders learn keyboarding with the Music and the Brain program.  At the end of the year, each class has a recital to show off their skills to their parents.

Chess in the Schools
Our 3rd and 4th graders learn to play chess.  Their skills are refined through our afterschool chess club which successfully competes in citywide chess tournaments.

National Dance Institute
For over 25 years, NDI has taught our 5th graders the power of dance as a vehicle for learning and developing self-confidence.  

 APEX for Youth
APEX provides Saturday programming focused on social emotional learning, critical thinking, social action and teamwork.  Physical well-being and teamwork is reinforced through a basketball and yoga program.

Third Street Music School
Students in prek through fourth grade are engaged in weekly music activities including singing, dance, theatre, drumming and ukelele.
